Our office has helped several high-profile clients to resolve complicated issues related to the activities of public regulators, internal reorganisation of bank service lines, commencement of investment banking services and structuring of derivative products.

Our office has provided legal assistance to a private Latvian bank in drafting a full set of legal agreements on derivative products.

We have assisted an American public investor in obtaining a bank license for their branch in Latvia.

In cooperation with one of the top four audit firms, our lawyers have worked on a complicated assignment for a Latvian public-sector bank involving the separation of commercial banking products from the non-commercial activities of a development bank.

The Stockholm Regional Court passed a judgment in a case brought by the liquidator of what was once the largest bank in the Baltics. It was the biggest court case in history initiated by a Latvian company in a general jurisdiction court. The case was adjudicated in accordance with Latvian substantive law and our office assisted the defendant’s attorneys explaining the provisions of the Latvian law. The court rejected the claim for losses and the plaintiff did not appeal against its judgment.

In relation to the implementation of EU structural funds in Latvia, our lawyers have assisted several companies by providing them with legal assistance in drafting project proposals and in challenging the decisions of structural fund intermediary bodies refusing to fund a project. Our lawyers have also prepared several publications highlighting the issues related to the implementation of EU structural fund programmes in Latvia.

On behalf of our clients, we have prepared a set of contracts and regulations for the provision of services related to derivative financial instruments in Latvia and have also assessed the legal aspects of cash-pooling services.

Our lawyers provide advice on drafting credit agreements and financial security documents, on the legal aspects of trade in securities, derivatives and other financial instruments, on issues of syndicated loans, as well as regarding the development of financial security document mechanisms.

Our Law Office provides insurance companies with legal assistance in the preparation of insurance terms and conditions and by successfully representing their interests in court against exorbitant insurance indemnity claims.
