Eversheds Bitāns participates in the London Chamber of Commerce organized conference

In the beginning of November the „Baltic trio” – international law offices of three Baltic States – Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, including Eversheds Bitāns, member of Eversheds International held a multinational business conference in London, on the London Chamber of Commerce premises.

The conference presented Baltic States as countries favourable for business and investment, underlining highly skilled and multilingual workforce, liberal trade regimes and good infrastructure. Speakers focused on the political and economic climate in the Baltics, strategy for investing, legal environment as well as investigation of several economic case studies.

Participants concluded that the Baltic region is a very attractive destination for UK companies that are among the main trading partners and investors in the Baltic States. In 2005, UK exports to the Baltic countries were valued at: £97m to Latvia, £113m to Estonia and £140m to Lithuania. The increasing purchasing power of the population has attracted investments from retailers such as Marks & Spencer, Debenhams and Hugo Boss. Mr. Simon Butt, British Ambassador to Lithuania appeared as key speaker to the conference focusing on political and economic climate in the Baltic States.

Māris Vainovskis, partner at Eversheds Bitāns law office, representing Latvia, commented: “Such business conferences are aimed at raising awareness of current crucial issues in the economical, socio-political and legal spheres. Good communication coupled with an effective understanding of such issues, whether in a management meeting or when communicating to people from the same field, improves the likelihood of success and directly contributes to organisational performance.”

Eversheds Bitāns law office undertook sponsorship of the event.
